About

Back in 1986, a Portmarnock couple decided that the town was lacking a performing arts group, so they founded a group called Tempo 2 with the objective of staging performing arts in the locality. So they got together with neighbours and friends and set about “getting the show on the road”.

Easter 1987 saw the staging of the first musical production, HMS Pinafore in Portmarnock Community School. This was followed in 1988 by The Mikado, 1989 South Pacific, 1990 Oklahoma! and in 1991 the production was Finian’s Rainbow. In 1991 the membership decided to change the Group’s name to Portmarnock Musical & Dramatic Society and the first production under that name was Fiddler on the Roof in 1992. This was also the first year that the group embarked into the Drama scene with a production of Drama at Inis.

A full list of other productions is available here.
