Welcome to the new look Portmarnock Musical & Dramatic Society’s website. We are a group located in North County Dublin dedicated to the performance of Musical Theatre and Drama. We are affiliated to AIMS and The Drama League of Ireland.
Every year we stage a Musical, normally during Easter Week and a Play in November. Other activities include Pub Theatre, Cabaret, an annual talent competition called Stars in Your Eyes, which happens in September and other fund raising events such as Table Quizzes, Fashion Shows and Car Boot Sales.
There is no upper or lower age limit for membership. Normally, if the show allows it, we always try to include children in our Musicals.

Portmarnock Musical & Dramatic Society will stage All in Favour Said No! on November 9th to 12th, 2011 in Portmarnock Sports & Leisure Centre.
Following a reading of the play on Tuesday, July 26th in St. Helen’s Junior School, parts were filled as shown below.
We would like to thank all those who turned up for the reading.
The play, by Bernard Farrell, is a hilarious yet scathing look at industrial relations and the people trapped therein. In this play Bernard Farrell demonstrates his ability to be hugely entertaining and mercilessly observant. It originally opened at the Abbey Theatre in April, 1981.

What’s The Buzz?
Well the “Buzz” is that we are in the throes of rehearsals for Jesus Christ Superstar which will be staged in Portmarnock Community School Hall on April 26 to 30, 2011. Our Director is Declan Keane, Choreographer is Brian Keogh and our Musical Director is Award Winning Marian Mullen.
We are exhausted every evening after rehearsal as Brian puts us through our paces and Marian keeps shouting “Don’t forget you have to sing as well!!!!” This is our second time to perform this show – we originally performed it in 2000 to celebrate the Millennium.
We have a very talented cast: Chris Currid as Jesus, Dave Latham (AIMS Best Comedian for his performance in our last show All Shook Up) as Judas, Orla Jennings as Mary Magdalene, Donal Cantwell as Pilate, Bobby McWilliams as Herod, Vincent Oliver as Caiaphas, Damien Hurley as Peter, Daniel Murphy as Simon and Karl Sheridan as Annas. And a great line up of High Priests, Apostles and Soul Sisters!!
Tickets will be on sale in early April and details will be posted on the AIMS website and on our own website www.portmarnockmds.net.

Following a reading of the play on Wednesday, August 18th in St. Helen’s Junior School, parts were filled as shown below.
We would like to thank all those who turned up for the reading. As usual, a great turnout by the ladies. We had enough female talent to cast the play twice over.
The play is set in Dublin in the early 1950′s in a small 3-bedroom corporation house.
